In an effort to keep our clients and pet parents up-to-date on important information, we are letting you know that Hill’s, one of our pet food providers, is expanding its voluntary recall of canned dog food products due to elevated levels of Vitamin D. This expansion relates to the same vitamin premix that led to the Jan. 31 voluntary recall mentioned in our February 1 Facebook post. More information and an updated list of affected Hill’s products with SKU numbers can be found by clicking the link below. This recall is ONLY for select CANNED dog food- no dry foods, cat foods, or treats are affected.
If your Hill’s canned product is under recall, please stop feeding it to your pet and return it to where it was originally purchased to receive a replacement, alternate food option or refund. Unless your dog is displaying symptoms such as vomiting, appetite loss, weight loss, increased thirst and urination, and excessive drooling, there is no cause for concern and a simple product replacement can be made. However, if your dog is displaying any of these symptoms and has been on a Hill’s canned diet that is under recall, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
Pet owners who have any concerns and wish to speak directly with a Hill’s representative are encouraged to contact Hill’s Consumer Affairs via email (contactus@hillspet.com) or phone (800-445-5777).
