Hill’s, one of our dog food providers, is voluntarily recalling select canned dog food products due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D. While vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, ingestion of elevated levels can lead to potential health issues. This recall is ONLY for select CANNED dog food- no dry foods, cat foods, or treats are affected.
If your Hill’s canned product is under recall, please return it to where it was originally purchased to receive a replacement, alternate food option or refund. Unless your dog is displaying symptoms such as diarrhea or vomiting, there is no cause for concern and a simple product replacement can be made. However, if your dog is displaying any of these symptoms and has been on a Hill’s canned diet that is under recall, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
